Associations

There are many different associations which support treasury and cash management professionals in their activities. These associations typically offer publications which keep treasury managers abreast of current issues as well as continuing education or certification to maintain the standards of the profession. Some associations also represent their members' interests to government entities or help set standards for financial transactions. Many treasurers also maintain membership in related associations, such as those for accounting, legal, and investment management professions.

Association for Financial Professionals
The Association for Financial Professionals, formerly the TMA, is a national professional organization of treasury professionals. It represents more than 12,000 corporate treasury executives from 6,500 leading companies and organizations. AFP provides many benefits to its members, including:

Treasury Management Association of Chicago (TMAC)
The Treasury Management Association of Chicago (TMAC) sponsors the annual Windy City Summit each spring in Chicago. This site contains information about TMAC's activities and its monthly newsletter.

Treasury Management Association of New York (TMANY)
Since its start in 1977, TMANY has sponsored the NY Cash Exchange each fall. The web site includes TMANY's current newsletter.

The Association of Corporate Treasurers

The Treasury Institute
The Treasury Institute for Higher Education was developed to promote better treasury practices in schools and universities.

Financial Executives International
A professional organization of senior financial executives from corporations throughout Canada and the United States. Financial Executives International was founded in 1931 as the Controllers Institute of America, and as the responsibilities of the financial executive expanded, the present name was adopted in 2000.

NACHA - National Automated Clearing House Association
The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) is a not-for-profit banking trade association with the largest number of member financial institutions in the country. NACHA promulgates the rules and operating guidelines for electronic payments through the ACH Network, and for Electronic Benefits Transfers, electronic checks, financial EDI and cross-border transactions.

IFAC - Standards & Guidance - Financial and Management Accounting
IFAC is an organization of national professional accountancy organizations that represent accountants employed in public practice, business and industry, the public sector, and education, as well as some specialized groups that interface frequently with the profession. Currently, it has member bodies in 101 countries, representing 2 million accountants.

CFA Institute
The CFA Institute comprises more than 83,000 individual voting members and 134 member societies across the globe that believe in setting a higher standard for the investment profession. Individual members either hold the CFA® designation or are active in the investment business and all agree to abide by the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

Healthcare Financial Management Association HFMA
The HFMA is the nation's leading personal membership organization for financial management professionals employed by hospitals, integrated delivery systems, long-term and ambulatory care facilities, managed care organizations, medical group practices, public accounting and consulting firms, insurance companies, government agencies, and other healthcare organizations.

American Bankers Association
The American Bankers Association represents a full-spectrum of the financial-services industry, including more than 90% of the nation's commercial banking assets. ABA is a partnership of volunteer bankers and staff, dedicated to doing for its membership with their collective resources what individual bankers cannot efficiently do on their own and to enhancing the role of banks as the pre-eminent providers of financial services.

The association continues to carry forward its original missions of education, protection, self-help and government representation while also undertaking a broad array of new, leading-edge initiatives to promote the interests of the financial services industry.
