Governments

There are many areas where treasury managers must interface with governments. All organizations (even the tax-exempt) must deal with the IRS and other tax entities, and any publicly-held entity must abide by SEC regulations. Many different government agencies regulate the banking industry and thus have an impact on the treasury management function of the company. Companies involved in merger or acquisition activities must also abide by the anti-trust regulations of the Department of Justice.
