There are many areas where treasury managers must interface with
governments. All organizations (even the tax-exempt) must deal with the IRS and
other tax entities, and any publicly-held entity must abide by SEC regulations.
Many different government agencies regulate the banking industry and thus have
an impact on the treasury management function of the company. Companies
involved in merger or acquisition activities must also abide by the anti-trust
regulations of the Department of Justice.
